Brigitte Herrod
I have always loved designing, making, drawing, painting and creative thinking, working as a Graphic Designer and artist all my life.
My art reflects many of my passions. I love old printed ephemera, typography, mark making, found objects and treasures that Mother Nature gives us. Junk shops are my treasure troves. I cannot walk past a skip without having a good rummage and love nothing better than gathering pebbles or sticks on a beach or woodland walk. All this with the aim of creating something with my precious finds.
I like to take beautiful, quirky or everyday things , add my painting, drawing or typography and familiar words, sayings or symbols to create pieces which make the viewer look again at things they know. Much of my work has a message for the viewer and often a gentle humour or quirky twist.
I have been lucky to have my art acknowledged by renowned artist judges having had paintings accepted and sold in the RA Summer Exhibition.
I love the challenge of undertaking commissions. I have done so on a small scale creating one off pieces . At the other end of the scale I have enjoyed and completed large commissions for example working with both the architect and clients’ brief to create over one hundred pieces of bespoke art for a hotel redesign . I work well with both individuals and big organisations utilising my good listening and communication skills to successfully produce art which feedback says is much loved and admired.
