As an artist,  Ellie’s work is deeply inspired by her love of water and the serenity it brings.  Water, for her, is not only a source of calm and peace but also a fascinating medium that transforms light, shape, and colour into mesmerizing abstractions.

She is captivated by the way reflections and refractions dance on its surface, creating distortions that feel both natural and surreal. Her paintings explore these intricate  distortions, often depicting the reflections seen from just beneath the water's surface.

Through these works, she aims to transport viewers into the immersive, dreamlike state of being in water, a sensation often tied to memories of summer holidays and moments of pure tranquility. By capturing these fleeting, ethereal qualities, Ellie hopes to evoke the joy, nostalgia, and meditative beauty that water so effortlessly brings.  

In July of 2021, Ellie won the Royal Arts Prize with her painting 'In the Deep.'
