Louise Soloway Chan
As a visual diarist, I capture fleeting moments through quick, on-the-spot pencil sketches of people in their everyday lives- preserving quirks and details often forgotten.
Having lived in Asia for over 30 years, my work is deeply influenced by traditional Asian art. This collection of prints blends the old with the new, starting as Chinese ink paintings on rice paper and reworked digitally on an iPad using modern brushes, glow pens, and textures, creating a fusion of contemporary and traditional aesthetics.
My larger public pieces include digital murals, such as those (here) at Highgate Art Fair, and my 3D bas-relief panels in a Hong Kong train station, which reflect the changing local business’ and street scenes.
From trading floors to construction sites, drag queens to street markets, my work explores the human narrative - the everyday stories that define our time.
