Marie-Claire Porter

Marie-Claire is a neurologist and ceramic artist based in London. After beginning her career in medicine, she discovered a passion for pottery in 2014. Balancing her work as a medical doctor specialising in neurology with her artistic practice, she finds inspiration in the intersection of form, function, and design.

Working from her studio in De Beauvoir, she crafts ceramics from stoneware, crank, and porcelain clays. Her pieces are primarily wheel-thrown, with occasional alterations to achieve a unique aesthetic. Known for her clean, linear, and well-defined designs, Marie-Claire’s work emphasises strong structural form while maintaining functionality. Each piece embodies her desire to create objects that are not only beautiful but also serve a practical purpose.
